Bad softwear
I though the camera was good But the softwear is rubbish could not load it onto my pc E mailed Canon at least six times got no help at all, have now returned it Amozon as not fit for purpose and am awaiting a refund.

Great little performer.
Canon FS100 Digital Camcorder (45 x Advanced Zoom With 2.7" Widescreen Colour LCD)I purchased the FS100 two months ago to replace an earlier Canon owned for seven trouble free years. Though a little dubious about the `New' technology without tapes I took the plunge.
The results from this pocket size camera have been delight.Vidio footage is crisp and clear. Colours are natural very good Easy mode and the manual selection on the whole are very useful. The night selection is the most disappointing.
Battery life is very good, once you have stopped frequently swapping modes and reviewing your work, charging is relatively quick with the supplied charger.
The 45x zoom is very good though I would recommend support at the upper end.
A handy little remote control is also a very helpful item.
Still pictures are acceptable even at its relatively low pixel rating. I found the ability to switch from video to still at any time a great feature.
So far so good it saves me carrying two cameras and get good results from this pocket
sized gem.
At the price I would highly recommend.
ok for the money, but not great,
After using for 2 months on various family holidays etc I have now had time to download the result to my pc. The results are generally very good, albeit a bit grainy in low light. The problem I have with this camera is the very low resolution of still photographs. In fact don't bother they are rubbish. As such it meant I had to carry 2 cameras around. There lies the problem. My canon G8 takes excellent still photographs at 10 megapixels. and two video resolutions are included. The results of which are excellent but not widescreen. So my advice is buy the new canon G9 which is a far better still camera (chalk & cheese) but has widescreen video as well. All for around £300.
My other problem with the f100 is the lack of a decent software suite. In fact virtually nothing but a photo organiser and the download driver for your pc.
On a positive note the 45x optical zoom is excellent.
Wrong accesories advertised
Don'tt get the 208 battery or its charger- they're not for the FS100!
You need the BP-808 battery and the CG-800E charger. I've just realised and have contacted Amazon to get it sorted out.
Incomplete
Unfortunately one star only but I'm sure the product is fine for the price.
However, one of included cds did not contain an extra instruction PDF file. Obviously not the end of the world but see further on. I have not used the camcorder at all and returned for a full refund. This is not Amazon's fault I know and was only prompted by the terrible attitude of the Canon CS rep when I 'phoned them. She was both arrogant and patronising as well as not having a clue. Apparently they are going to contact me in a couple of DAYS! So add on some more time for them to possibly send a replacement cd maybe after I return the defective one?
Another manufacturer for me hopefully with better customer service.
